Australia’s recent changes about Bengal cats importation placed hundreds of us in a extremely difficult situation.
Deadline to import Bengal cats in Australia is February 2026 (upon having the exemption granted).
We adopted our bengals with knowledge of the laws in Australia and they have changed so quickly not long ago.
It would be life changing for us to be allowed to being there our beloved pet without this deadline.
Australia has a commitment to protect its environment and biodiversity.
We truly support this, however we believe our beloved pets pose no risk to Australia ecosystem.
We bought our cats from reputable breeders. We have official documents from TICA showing that our pet is at least 5 generations removed from the Asian Leopard Cat - so it is a 100% domestic cat at this point.
A reputable breeder ONLY sells neutered Bengal cats, there won’t be a cat overpopulation problem.
We are responsible pet owners, most of our cats are strictly indoor, we won’t let them roam free outside (who would risk to have them endangered from poisonous snakes or spiders or to be run over by a car?).
We love our pets and we look religiously after their health. They are microchipped, they bring no fleas or diseases in the country as we look religiously after their health.
We believe there are other measurements Australia could take to stop feral cats overpopulation and ensure wildlife welfare (desex feral cats, have mandatory microchip for every cat and reinforce the importance of keeping cats inside).
Please help us out! They are not just cats for us, we can’t leave them behind! 🙏🙏🙏
