Th Britannia Hotel in LS14 is currently being used as a hostel to house asylum seekers with no criminal history information & criminals . Whilst we understand that these people need a place to reside, the nearby residents are very concerned at the alarming rise of crime in the area immediately surrounding the hotel. 
There have been sexual assaults, street robberies & violent crimes being carried out in and around the underpass right next to the hotel, there has been am increase in house burglaries in the local area and people living nearby are genuinely afraid to leave their homes or let their children play out. 
LS14, in particular Seacroft & Swarcliffe which the hotel lies on the border, are home to many young, working class families. Its residents used to feel safe using the underpass to go to the large Tesco Extra but it has now became a ‘no go’ zone for most people. 
Something needs to be done about the crime in the local area, we believe that a hotel which is in such close proximity to housing estates should not be used for such purposes as housing people we know very little about their criminal background or actual convicted criminals. This certainly wouldn't be allowed to happen in more affluent areas, but because our area maybe a little more deprived and ‘working class’ it seems our community’s safety does not come into consideration.

We believe that before massive decisions like this are made about our local area, the public should be asked for our opinions because it is us who are affected now that out local area is now UNSAFE.

This is in no way meant to come across as racist as many of the criminals there are british citizens, but we know very little about migrants background when they enter the UK and until they can be verified as law abiding people and deemed safe then they shouldnt be kept in a 4 star hotel on the doorstep of so many vulnerable residents.
