Leave Liam Ramos Alone—Stop ICE From Targeting This Minnesota Family

Leave Liam Ramos Alone—Stop ICE From Targeting This Minnesota Family
The Issue
A 5-year-old child who has already endured detention, illness, trauma, and national scrutiny is now at risk of being taken again.
According to the family’s attorney, the federal government is attempting to detain Liam Conejo Ramos and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias, for a second time, despite a federal judge previously ordering their release from a Texas detention center. That ruling came after Liam became sick and lost weight in custody.
Now, instead of allowing this family to heal and continue their legal process, the government has filed an appeal—raising the possibility that Liam could once again be placed in detention.
This is not just alarming. It is deeply troubling.
Liam is five years old. He belongs in school, with his family, in his community—not in a detention facility hundreds of miles away. His family is already navigating an ongoing legal process, including an appeal of their asylum case. They are doing what the system asks of them.
Yet, according to their attorney, this level of legal escalation is unusual. Out of numerous similar cases, this is one of the only instances where the government has pursued this kind of appeal—raising serious concerns about fairness and whether this family is being singled out.
Liam’s family is described as “devastated and confused,” forced once again to live in fear that their child could be taken.
Enough is enough.
We call on the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to:
- Immediately cease any efforts to re-detain Liam Conejo Ramos and his father
- Respect the prior federal court ruling that ordered their release
- Allow the family to remain safely in Minnesota while their legal case proceeds
- End the repeated targeting of this family and others like them
- This is not about politics. It is about protecting a child from repeated harm.
Liam has already been through enough. His family deserves stability, safety, and peace.
Sign this petition to say clearly: leave this family alone.
