Leahys Road, Kilmore — A Permanent Fix Is Needed
The issue
The residents of Kilmore have had enough of the dangerous and deteriorating condition of Leah’s Road.
The road is plagued by potholes, corrugations and an increasingly uneven surface, creating a serious safety hazard for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. These conditions can cause drivers to swerve unexpectedly, damage vehicles and create dangerous situations, particularly at night or during wet weather.
What is especially frustrating for residents is that Leah’s Road has been repaired repeatedly, yet these repairs simply do not last. On some occasions, the dirt road is graded and repaired, only for potholes to begin appearing again within hours of the repair being completed. This cycle of temporary repairs and rapid deterioration is clearly not addressing the underlying problem.
Residents should not have to continually put up with temporary repairs that fail almost immediately. The community needs a permanent and properly engineered solution.
We are calling on Mitchell Shire Council to commit to properly upgrading Leah’s Road by constructing a sealed asphalt road, with appropriate drainage and a durable road surface capable of withstanding regular traffic and local weather conditions.
This is not simply about having a smoother road. It is about road safety, protecting residents’ vehicles, improving access and ensuring that the community has a road that is fit for purpose and built to last.
We are asking Mitchell Shire Council to listen to the residents of Kilmore and take meaningful action to permanently fix Leah’s Road.
Enough is enough. Leah’s Road needs a permanent solution — not another temporary repair.
Leah’s Road deserves better. Kilmore residents deserve better.
