In the September of last year, we tragically lost a friend of mine, Leah Bedford, under unfortunate circumstance in York. It is my firm belief that this could have been prevented, had the right measures been put in place to support Leah. Since then, I have come to find out just how many kids, like Leah, have slipped through the cracks of the system for nothing other than a sheer lack of inter-service communication.

When a child / young person under 18 is involved in one service, be that CAHMS, the Social Services or Changing Lives, when that child is transferred or added to a new service their records should be transferred across too. As far as I know, it is not currently a legal requirement for this to happen, leading to many children, such as Leah, slipping through the cracks of the system. For these reasons I believe it's time to enact a new law - Leah's Law. Please do your part in helping us with this fight by signing our petition and putting a stop to needless lives being lost. It is time for change.
