Reduce Sexual Violence at Independent Schools

Reduce Sexual Violence at Independent Schools
The Issue
We are alumni, current students, teachers, parents, and friends of the independent schools in the Washington, DC area. We ask the heads of school and boards of these institutions to come together to develop a unified and comprehensive program to combat sexual violence and harassment in our shared school community.
Why should you sign to stand with us?
- The independent schools in the DC Area constitute a shared social community, whether or not that is intentional
- Sexual violence and harrassment are endemic to the culture of this community
- We're asking school leaders to develop a program to address this dire problem
- We're asking them to seek out professional consultants and utilize research-based programs to educate parents, students, and staff
- We're asking them to do it NOW, so that this letter need be the last of its kind
- We're asking them to do it for current and future students, and the local, national, and global leaders they will become.
