Horse Barn BOARDING facilities FIRE PREVENTION REGULATIONS

Horse Barn BOARDING facilities FIRE PREVENTION REGULATIONS
The Issue
Mr. Trudeau
You have the connections and the power to change all of this !!!
This Petition is in regards to the countless deaths of Horses that die in barn fires across Canada
Dying Due to barn fires, smoke inhalation, no way out. where there is no prevention, sprinklers or alarms in the barns where top quality, or any quality horses board..
I think the government should give government grants or tax breaks and also guidelines what is acceptable for fire prevention in boarding facilities and make it mandatory to have them in place.
Grants to help owners of older barns update their facilities to help PREVENT the suffering and horrifying death of horses, pigs, cattle etc. if a fire was to happen . THIS IS A PREVENTION METHED, NOT A CURE FOR ANIMALS perishing in a barn fire ... It's a huge start in the right direction ..considering there is nothing in place or mandatory now.
I THINK THE GOVERNMENT should insist in sprinkler systems, automatic back stall doors, that open to the outside paddocks ..that open when the alarm goes off ...Fire training for all barn owners, employees at the boarding facility and fire practise monthly or quarterly.
I think the insurance companies should give the owners of any facility a HUGE cost break in insurance of any facility fire prevention updates and make that mandatory.
The death of animals perishing in a fire is horrific and happen yearly ... But we can also take steps to prevent it ...and those steps need to be taken and not just dismissed ..they need to be in place for every facility that houses their horses in stalls. because they can't get out!!!! and are trapped to die a painful hellish inhumane death.
A lot will also state horses will run back in ...a burning barn, They are flight animals and will run from danger ..if they are allowed outside their barn areas on a regular basics through their doors to an outside area that also houses them , ...if given the opportunity to face death or run out a door your used to going out ..I think they would run out that door to an area they are also used too. knowing it has never harmed them.
the whole barn for new structure has to be revamped. to give horse a place to go ..if there was a fire, an outside area as well
Some of these larger barn structures that hold ( 40 plus horses ) are not designed, in case of a fire, There is no way any animals could be saved, if the horses are located in the middle rows of these 4 row barns .So knowing this ....how is it a safe structure, If a fire was to break out?? there is no escape route for horses in the middle rows of a barn? They would parish, but yet those structures are deemed safe because they meet building code?? Code for a building structure but NOT Code for any animals safety.
That any new construction of any new Barn built ..takes into consideration the Safety of the animals it's about to house and a fire safety Code of escape NEW GUIDELINES in the construction of buildings exits ..if a fire was to break out ..so the animals have a fighting chance to survive and exit a burning building, New ways of dealing and thoughts of ..what if ...this was to happen...
Buildings that hold lots of people, stadiums, hotels, etc. even if they're only there a short time.. have fire exits, escape layouts, employees trained to deal if there was a fire. ..They have smoke detectors Fire alarms and equipment .. If a building holds anything with a heart beat it should have fire preventions
We're in a new day and age and it could save thousands of dollars, if not Millions of dollars, insurance claims, lost jobs, fire fighters man hours, and heartache but most of all..horses lives!!!!! New guidelines for any boarding facility that houses their horses inside a stall, in a barn that the door is locked to the stall and the outside doors are closed ...for fire safety and systems a must !!!!! Animals don't have a chance without them.
There will be a lot of grief for small barns ..stating they can't afford such expensive updates, Which is why I'd like to see the government to step in and make it affordable for them.. as well as the big barns
Some don't want the government or other companies to step in and make the changes, It needs to be law and a governed law at that ..to inforce these laws or maybe no insurance coverage to apply to them.
Things have to change, if they only have their own horses, they need to have some kind of fire prevention or warnings in place that's one thing but if they are housing other people's horses, laws have to change. to protect the horses involved and their owners.
Government Grants should be provided for upgrades in fire prevention
Please Sign and Share ...we need to do our part to stop this horrific tragedy from ever happening again ....to any animal
.
Fire commissioners, fire investigation officers, National building Code of Canada need to get together to come up with new building structures that are safe for horses and also fire prevention methods and systems for older barns
