What is the state of justice in the Philippines? Is Justice really for sale? Reality Check, there are just and honest judges, lawyers, and prosecutors however, many more are corrupt and bribe-takers. Our country has always been a highly controversial society, and courts have also been used for personal vendetta and feuds. There was a widespread public perception that some judges can be bought. Many of the accused after being pressed for bribes and languishing in jail for years, end up being only released because the police don't attend hearings because there is no investigation or there is no evidence. The Constitution provides that those charged with crimes are entitled to be consulted, counseled, and to have a speedy and fair public trial on the charges against them. The accused have the right to face witnesses, present evidence, and challenge convictions. However, corruption and inefficiency in the court system are said to weaken the provision for proper trials and equal justice.

Justice is rare for the poor. It seems only the rich get “justice”.  The justice system functions for the rich and the powerful very differently for the poor.  Every Filipino knows there is no balance, no value in the judgment of the Philippine Justice System. It's cruel and harsh, and most of us wonder why?

Judicial institutions are considered poor and corrupt in the Philippines as well as extremely slow. Our system of criminal justice has never been successful in exonerating the innocent and punishing the guilty. The reason why the Philippine Government established such institutions is to maintain peace and order. They are responsible for preventing crimes, law enforcement, and the prosecution and enforcement of those who break the law. In law and politics, justice is one of the most important moral principles. Justice should be for all, but justice today appears to be only for the rich, not for the poor.
