Rebuild the relationship between Lawrenceville students and Lawrenceville's administration

The Issue

Dear Lawrenceville Administration,

I sign this petition to advocate for Dean McMillan’s removal as Dean of Students as the FIRST STEP in rebuilding the trust between the students and the school’s leadership.

In her address to Lawrenceville’s community following her appointment, Dean McMillan wrote “We can shape the Lawrenceville community to be what we want to be,” but it is evident based on her actions in the first two terms of her leadership that SHE is shaping the Lawrenceville community to match her vision with complete disregard of the community's wants and needs.

Whether it be through threatening phone calls to parents or persistent condescending verbal attacks, the majority of students feel targeted by Dean McMillan.

Dean McMillan's constant threats have also heavily contributed to the rapidly deteriorating state of mental health at Lawrenceville. If the school really does care about the wellbeing of their students, as they so often claim, action must be taken immediately.

Since her appointment, the student body has felt nothing but constant disrespect as a result of Dean McMillan’s actions and therefore believe that her relationship with the students is beyond repair.

The Dean of Students should aid and guide students through life at Lawrenceville. Dean McMillan has done the opposite.

We, as students, understand that the removal of Dean McMillan as our Dean of Students will not single-handedly bring an end to the administration's complete lack of transparency and regard for students' mental health. Instead we believe taking action of this magnitude will send students the message that we are finally being prioritized: a message that will not only empower Lawrentians to strive for success at Lawrenceville, but also give the student body the opportunity to work with an administration we trust to find equitable solutions to the many issues on campus.
