There's nothing worse than coming off a flight  and being forced to inhale someone's second-hand smoke. Doesn't matter if there are areas set aside away from the doorways, non-smokers are still subjected to it. It's particularly bad downstairs where the area is confined by the upper deck roadway. On top of the second-hand smoke, ground employees in particular also suffer from inhaling auto exhaust fumes for long periods of time. The exhaust issue will hopefully improve with the LAX remodel, but a ban on smoking must happen immediately! There is an imminent health risk to employees and passengers and something must be done to protect our health.
