Student all across the country are asked to sit down in a classroom and prove in a matter of a few hours everything they have learned with bubbles on a scantron. The problem is that some students may not be great test takers and due to certain circumstances may have a bad testing day, for this reason, standardized tests do not accurately measure what students have learned. Standardized tests have changed the curriculum in a manner which we no longer learn to be educated but instead learn how to take tests. Standardized tests also have no way of examining a childs creatie capabilities. Additionally in schools where a teachers pay is altered by class scores it is understandable why teachers would part-take in cheating. Standardized tests ultimatley create a bracket of winners and losers, students can become unmotivated and may feel lesser next to peers who have scored higher. I want to start this petition in order to give teenagers the right to choose whether or not they want to take a mandated test without the concequence of being excluded from college decisions. These tests should be an option to optimize students college application rather then being a leading factor on addmisions.
