Laureate Park HOA: Allow Multiple Internet And TV Service Providers
Laureate Park HOA: Allow Multiple Internet And TV Service Providers
The Issue
To: The Laureate Park Homeowners Association (HOA)
We, the undersigned residents of Laureate Park, are writing to express our concerns regarding the current state of internet service in our community and to request a significant change to the policies governing internet service providers (ISPs) in our neighborhood.
For many years, our HOA has facilitated internet service for the community by contracting providers in bulk. Initially, this service was managed by Dais in partnership with Summit Broadband, and now it is handled directly by Summit Broadband. While we acknowledge the effort to provide reliable internet service at a collective cost, we have experienced significant issues over the past six weeks that have left many residents frustrated and underserved.
The internet, a crucial utility for modern life, supports remote work, virtual learning, home security systems, healthcare monitoring, and general communication. In a neighborhood of over 2,000 households, the increasing unreliability of our internet service is unacceptable and places undue stress on residents. Many of us rely heavily on stable, high-speed internet to sustain our livelihoods, ensure the safety of our homes, and maintain our quality of life.
To address this issue, we respectfully request that the HOA take immediate action to allow other ISPs, such as AT&T and Spectrum, to provide hardwired internet services in Laureate Park. Expanding the availability of ISPs will:
Increase Competition: Enabling multiple providers will foster healthy competition, driving better service quality, customer care, and competitive pricing.
Enhance Reliability: With more options available, residents can choose an ISP that meets their individual needs, ensuring a more consistent and reliable connection.
Reduce Risk of Outages: Diversifying providers reduces the risk of widespread outages affecting the entire community, as households will not be solely reliant on a single ISP.
Accommodate Diverse Needs: Different households have different internet usage patterns, speed requirements, and budget constraints. Allowing multiple providers ensures that all residents can find a plan that suits their specific needs.
We understand that the HOA has acted in the best interest of the community by seeking to provide bulk services, but the current limitations are proving detrimental to our collective well-being. Allowing other ISPs to operate within Laureate Park will not only improve internet reliability but also empower residents with the freedom to choose the service that best suits their needs.
We urge the Laureate Park HOA to:
Allow AT&T, Spectrum, and other ISPs to offer services in Laureate Park alongside Summit Broadband.
Work with these providers to ensure smooth integration into the community’s infrastructure.
Provide residents with transparent updates on any actions taken regarding this petition.
We, the undersigned, believe that this change will greatly benefit all residents of Laureate Park, ensuring that we have access to reliable, high-quality internet services. This is essential for maintaining our community’s standards and meeting the demands of modern living.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. We look forward to a positive response and swift action from the HOA.
Sincerely,
41
