In 2015 my grandson, Adrian Jones, was abused, tortured and starved to death by his father Michael Jones and stepmother Heather Jones of Kansas City, KS.  At the time the abuse was going on Willie Flowers (Michael's uncle) was living in the home, thus the reason I have been trying to get Adrian's Law passed. Willie has never been held accountable for not reporting the abuse. Adrian's Law will hold individuals over 18 culpable if they do not report child abuse.  Adrian's Law will also state that DCF and/or law enforcement who are conducting the investigation "shall visually observe the child who is the alleged victim of abuse or neglect".  It has been three years since we have attempted to get Adrian's Law enacted in the State of Kansas.  Beginning in 2018, the law did not get passed due to the need to reword. In 2019, Representative Louis Ruiz, who introduced the law, had a family emergency which led to another delay.  In 2020, it was discovered that the Senate could not vote on Adrian's Law because it never left the House's chamber. I am so tired of this back and forth between politicians, three years is long enough. Please signed this petition to help make sure that individuals are held accountable if they do not report child abuse, and to make sure that DCF and law enforcement visually observe these children of potential abuse or neglect.
