Launch a more equitable ridesharing service in Indy: riders pay less, drivers earn more
Why this petition matters

Let's bring Nomad Rides to Indianapolis!
I am currently a driver for Uber/Lyft, and the two top questions I get asked are: "Do you make good money driving?" or "Why is it so expensive today?" To answer the first question, I on average get about 50% of the fare that a customer pays. Uber takes the other half as "commissions" for connecting riders with drivers. And for the second question, both Uber/Lyft use what's called "dynamic pricing" and they use this to over charge you for the ride. They charge whatever they want, when they want. I've had countless rides with commission as low as 23%!! I am driving MY car, using MY time, yet Uber/Lyft is making more than I am? Simply put, riders are overpaying and drivers are getting underpaid.
Now let's talk about Nomad Rides. Nomad is a new rideshare company aimed at cutting out these issues I stated above by operating commission-free. Currently they are expanding their network into mostly college towns. Let's make Indianapolis the NEXT MARKET! Riders pay less, NO SURGE! And 100% of the fare goes to the driver. Yes, you read that right. With Nomad, the driver pays a monthly fee to access the app, instead of commissions. This fee is as low as $25 and allows drivers to take 100% of the fares that riders pay. With this business model, the customer pays less and the driver makes more.
For example, let's take a minimum fare ride on Uber right now, it's usually $6.32 but it says "Prices are slightly higher due to increases demand" so it's now $7.93. I'll check the driver app, and to a surprise there's a $1 surge. Minimum fare on the driver's end is $2.56. For this ride, the customer will pay $7.93 and the driver will get $3.56. This is a commission of 44.8%. Now let's go take this same ride on Nomad, Let's say $5. Customer pays $2.93 less. Driver makes $1.44 more. The longer rides will have an even larger difference!
Let's make rideshare the way it's supposed to be. If you are a customer interested in lower prices for your rides, and the good feeling you get that 100% is going to that driver, sign this petition so Nomad can see and launch its services in Indianapolis!
