Launch a Commission of Inquiry into the Minister's Involvement with the Fujian Gang
The Issue
TLDR: Several ministers like Ng Chee Meng, Ong Ye Kung, Chee Hong Tat were seen in photos together with members from an organised crime syndicate known as the Fujian Gang, that was involved in the largest money laundering case in Singapore
Singaporeans should not solely rely on Press Releases. We demand a formal investigation to look into the matter which is of Public Concern
In our democratic country, citizens like myself treasure the opportunity to exercise our democratic freedoms—one of which is signing petitions. This vital action allows us to participate in civil actions that pressure the government to address the crucial concerns of its populace. The representation and accountability of our elected officials are the cornerstones of a thriving democracy.
Recently, unsettling rumors have surfaced involving the alleged involvement of certain government ministers with Su Hai Jin. This came after the General Elections in 2025, where greater emphasis on public trust and government accountability is expected. The gravity of these allegations necessitates transparency and truth. It's in the public interest to fully understand the extent of these involvements to ensure that our leaders remain accountable and act in good faith for the betterment of all citizens.
Past incidents in various governments have shown that without full transparency, trust in leadership erodes, and the public begins to doubt the integrity of those in power. Repeated allegations and lack of accountability can lead to a democratic deficit, where the people's faith in the system wanes. Singaporeans CANNOT rely solely on the Press Secretaries to verify and validate its findings. More has to be done in the form of a COI to restore public trust.
According to data from Transparency International, countries that frequently employ Commissions of Inquiry to investigate allegations against politicians show higher levels of public trust and lower levels of perceived corruption. This method provides a structured, impartial tool for uncovering the truth and ensuring justice.
We call upon our government to launch a formal Commission of Inquiry (COI) that will look into these allegations surrounding the ministers' involvement with Su Hai Jin. This COI should be impartial, transparent, and thorough to ensure all findings are credible and comprehensive.
Launching this Commission will not only aim to restore public trust but also reinforce democratic principles by holding those in power accountable. It sets a precedent for how seriously we take potential violations of democratic and ethical standards.
Your signature will amplify our collective voice calling for truth and accountability. Please sign this petition to demand action and safeguard our democracy.
