Largest Animal Rescue in U.S. History: Support the 700+ Dogs and Cats Who Need Care Now
The Issue
More than 700 dogs and cats were rescued from a single Los Angeles County property, what officials say may be the largest animal seizure in U.S. history. After surviving unsafe conditions, these animals finally have a chance at safety.
But rescue is only the first step.
Shelters and rescue organizations across LA County are now overwhelmed. Hundreds of animals have arrived at once—many needing urgent medical care, rehabilitation, and time to heal. The groups stepping up to save them are facing overcrowding, limited staff, and stretched resources.
Animal lovers know that saving lives doesn’t end at rescue. It takes real support to help these animals recover and find homes.
We are calling on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the LA County Department of Animal Care and Control to act now. The county must provide emergency funding, staffing, and resources to the shelters and rescue partners caring for these 700+ animals. When the county carries out a rescue of this scale, it must also ensure proper care in the aftermath.
We also urge leaders to create an emergency response fund so future rescues don’t overwhelm the system.
These animals have already been through enough. The organizations caring for them shouldn’t have to do it alone.
If you believe every rescued animal deserves care, safety, and a real chance at a new life, add your name today.
