Stop parking meters on the prom.
The Issue
Pay for parking meters will reduce the footfall in the town, impact on local businesses, affect locals visiting our promenade, will affect residents living near the promenade by people parking outside their residences whilst visiting the town,it will affect the disabled and elderly by introducing parking charges, the town needs investment not another form of tax which will increase the high unemployment we are suffering, parking meters will also affect Wyre council amenities, infinity, asda etc due to the parking spaces being taken by non-users of the facilities. Am not against overnight parking charges being introduced or stopped as this is detrimental to the town. Businesses along the promenade rely on people being able to park freely, kiosks, hotels etc not all businesses can afford a carpark, those who do will have to increase charges to ensure only customers use their facility by people checking, a charge customers are not willing or can afford to pay Finally, charges will affect clubs memberships ie The kite club and the model yacht club, members may not be in a position to pay charges to pursue their leisure interests.
