Hello there It's Rachael's 16th Birthday on Saturday and as you might expect it's going to be a bit different from the average 16 year olds birthday. I can't be there in the morning to surprise her with breakfast in bed. I won't be the first person to wish her a Happy Birthday. All her presents won't be wrapped. She can't have her friends sleep over or a party. No private time together and not all the family can see her. I can't make her a homemade cake. Time will be limited. We will leave and she will be lonely without her family for much of the day. So I decided that I needed to work extra hard to give her something special. We have had loads of support and lots of well wishes. This has helped us be strong and Rachael loves reading them all. So I thought that maybe if people could go to twitter and post Happy Birthday messages then I could put these in an album for her and leave her with something heartwarming. I have asked Rachael what she thinks and she thinks it's "an awesome idea" We can use #happybirthdayrachael Rachael is improving and may even get a home visit in a few months but the distance is still a massive problem and I am still hoping that changes will be made and that in the future families are not travelling ridiculous distances to be together Thank you for your support. Almost two years fighting to have her closer to home. It's exhausting especially when nothing changes so we have to try and make the best of a bad situation.
