Hello to everyone who is supporting my petition Just a quick update Rachael is doing well and making small steps in Newcastle We have enjoyed some time out of the hospital grounds and been able to have lunch out and a shopping spree However it did prove a little too much so we are taking it slow again. This was the first time in almost 18 months that we have left a hospital as a family and it felt amazing :) The hospital staff are great and have given us much support After almost 14 months of Rachael being out of the area social care have finally agreed to pay one visit a month for the family to go and visit her. It's not really enough but it's better than nothing. Luckily, so much was raised through crowd funding that we have been able to visit at least once every two weeks Now it's the holidays we are going to mange 4 visits this month. This will help her greatly Today is a massive important day for me as I had my 6th driving test....failed again! (7th time lucky) Also the BBC Panorama documentary I'm Broken inside: Sara's Story is aired this evening I feel so grateful that my daughter receives quality care in a nurturing, safe, calm and therapeutic environment. However this has not always been the case for her. This is why I feel so passionate about mental health care. Not just because of my daughter but for others too. When the services are delivered the right way and families are given the right support and advice we can all work together to provide on going support or help people feel comfortable enough to be back in the community. Unfortunately this was unavailable to Sara Green and her family are broken and hurting every day. My own personal opinion is that keeping children miles away from their family does more harm and delays recovery. I Hope that one day (probably too late for my daughter) their will be enough care for everyone and that the government will stop making false promises and hurting families and that mental health care is taken seriously and gets the funding it needs. I haven't seen the documentary yet but when I was recording for this documentary it did occur to me that talking about it , even in front of cameras was a massive release. Thank you for your support and one day I hope to present this petition and make a change for the good. Until then though I will just keep talking about it and raising awareness. Thank you again, the kind messages and support really do help us all through these tough times x BBC Panorama tonight : "Sara Green was a teenager betrayed by a mental health system designed to protect her. Using Sara's own words taken from her diary, Panorama reveals the failings of a Priory hospital where she was an inpatient and where she took her own life in a misjudged cry for help. Peter Marshall asks what lessons can be drawn from Sara's story and what can be done to fix the country's broken child and adolescent mental health system."
