Better Lives for Animals in British Columbia

The Issue

We petition the new government of British Columbia to re-think animal agricultural policy from the ground up in order to eliminate cruelty to non-human animals, protect our environment, and promote human health.

As reported on Global, CTV, and CBC, undercover operations designed to uncover what really happens in BC’s agriculture industry have shown in 2014 and again in 2017 the horrific cruelty that is endemic in factory-farming in BC. Others have documented the dangers to the environment and to human health of an agricultural system reliant on overcrowding, cruel breeding practices, and constant use of antibiotics.

With a new government, British Columbia has an opportunity to become a world leader in limiting cruelty in animal farming, in limiting the damage that poorly regulated industrial farming does to the environment—and in limiting the damage that industrial farming does to human health. We call on the new government to revise BC's laws and regulations so as to bring about real change.
