As we last reported, the City of Lake Stevens and Costco are busy trying to win approvals and commence construction while residents are preoccupied with the public health crisis.
Specifically, Costco has requested permits from the Army Corps. of Engineers and the Department of Ecology, which have set a ridiculous deadline of April 12th to receive public comments despite the COVID-19 shutdown and the impact it is having on our day to day lives.
We are asking that you please join us in contacting the Army Corps. of Engineers and the Department of Ecology, by April 12th, to demand a public hearing for these project permits and a 30 day extension of the public comment period in light of the ongoing public health crisis.
To the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers: Email jordan.a.bunch@usace.army.mil; or mail to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Regulatory Branch, Attention: Jordan Bunch, P.O. Box 3755, Seattle, WA 98124.
To the Department of Ecology: Email ecyrefedpermits@ecy.wa.gov; or mail to Washington State Department of Ecology, Attention: Federal Permit Coordinator, P.O. Box 47600, Olympia, WA 98504.
We also ask that you please send the same request to our local federal officials, who have more influence than state officials with the Army of Corps. of Engineers. Below is their contact information.
