“The City Council’s decision was contrary to law, against the manifest weight of the evidence, arbitrary and capricious and an abuse of its discretion.” So reads a complaint recently filed by a group of neighbors on Westminster against the City of Lake Forest, in which they seek to have the Historic Preservation Commission’s decision upheld.
As reported in a recent Chicago Tribune article, the City Council agreed to a settlement that BTB finds egregiously one-sided in its benefits to the McKinley Road project developers. At that January meeting, 4th Ward Alderman Ray Buschmann said,
“I believe the terms that we would be approving here in amending the PSA [Purchase Sale Agreement] are unfair to the city’s taxpayers, to our historic district community, to our preservation heritage, to our affordable housing commitment and to the library we cherish.”
Block the Box is grateful to the residents behind this lawsuit who are, at their own expense, doing what the City Council refused to do: enforce Lake Forest’s building and preservation ordinances.
Thank you for your continued support.
