Laing hasn’t supported a boys or girls 6th grade Trident league basketball team in a few years.  
A few parents have heard back from Laing that they do not plan to have a 6th grade basketball team through the Trident Basketball league. However the other two middle schools in Mount Pleasant (Moultrie and Cario) have already committed to having a 6th grade team.  Trident basketball is the premier league in the Low Country for elementary and middle schools to compete.  This league is not affiliated with Mount Pleasant Rec  nor does CCSD sponsor this league.  However the schools do need to sign off on rosters and report cards.  Basically we are asking for their support to include a 6th grade team along with the 7th and 8th grade teams they already committed to. 

Laing plans to hold a tryout for the 7th grade team with 6th and 7th grade boys and girls trying out for one 7th grade team. This puts most 6th graders at a disadvantage going against older 7th graders. 

We need all Laing 6th grade parents to sign this petition so we can show the administration at CCSD and Laing how much not supporting a girls and boys 6th grade team will effect these players and how one middle school of the 3 in town is not willing to follow along.
