Hi my name is Ken Haig.  I am a community activist and I am calling on Fife Council to clean, clear vegetation from in and around and reinstate all road signs. We are having to accept/put up with a large number of signs throughout the entire road network that are covered by a thick layer of road traffic film, others that are almost illegible and others that are simply hidden by vegetation.  At present there is no specific policy for sign cleaning. Whilst there is a signing budget, this is mainly for the replacing damaged signs and the associated poles. 

All drivers, cyclists and local residents are affected by this, not to mention visitors. 

Unless the public go onto the Fife Council website and report each sign, then nothing will be done. There is no regular maintenance being undertaken in terms of cleaning these signs. It appears that we have to wait until one is damaged in an accident before they are fixed. With thousands of signs, if not tens of thousands, not being able to view them properly cannot be acceptable in this day and age. We the motorist deserve better. 

1.47 billion vehicle miles were travelled on roads in Fife in 2020. 

I am asking you to sign this petition to get Fife Council to take immediate action in ensuring that every sign in Fife is cleaned, legible and not hidden by vegetation.
