My name is a Kyle Webber, and I am a proud student of École Salish in Surrey, BC, Canada. Before I begin my statement, I’d like to acknowledge that the school that both me and my peers have spent the last 5 years learning, playing and growing as individuals reside on the traditional territories of the Katzie, Kwantlen, Semiahmoo, and other Co-Salish Nations. Throughout this year, I have passionately and confidently lobbied for my desire to be the valedictorian of our amazing 2024 class. Despite not having the highest grades, I believe that being a valedictorian is about more than just academic achievements. Being Valedictorian means being a leader of your group, someone passionate about the success of their classmates, someone who represents and understands both the highest of highs as well as the lowest of lows amongst our amazing students.

 

I am known among both students and teachers alike for my commitment to spreading positivity, energy, kindness and confidence to all throughout our school. My peers have shown overwhelming support for me to represent them as their class valedictorian (As seen in pictures below.) This petition is not just about me; it's about recognizing that academic performance isn't everything, and that other qualities can be equally important in a leader.

By signing this petition, you're supporting the idea that we are more than just letters and grades, but rather people with our own paths in life, with our own opinions and personalities, and with our own ideas of what it means to be successful. You may find a student with a higher grade than me, but you will not find a student who shares my passion for my school, my peers, and my desire to win Valedictorian.
