Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered an unprovoked attack on Ukraine. He is defying international law and violating Ukraine’s sovereignty. This war is going to cost thousands of innocent lives all for the aggression of the Russian President. Kukkiwon awarded Putin with an honorary 9th dan black belt in 2013. The honorary 9th dan black belt is given to non tkd practitioners who have made significant contributions to the art of taekwondo or enhanced the wellbeing of general society significantly. Putin has brought war back to the European continent which has been relatively free of conflict since WWII. Kukkiwon claims they are committed to world peace and even changed their logo to reflect this commitment. Now as Putin has clearly opposed the goal of world peace and may eventually escalate his invasion of Ukraine to a invasion of NATO allies prompting world war three, It is time to send him a strong message saying this will not be tolerated. Kukkiwon must rescind Putin’s black belt for his actions in Ukraine.
