Hello everyone! We are Kathy, Laura and Sabrina from New York City. Recently we have discovered that American food products are using harmful ingredients that are not being used, and are frequently banned in other countries. Of these products is Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.

Last year it was discovered that Kraft Macaroni and Cheese contains harmful GMO. The American brand was sold in the UK store Tesco and the box contained a warning label which stated “GMO DECLRATION: Made from genetically modified wheat (May contain GMO) **THIS PRODUCT MAY HAVE ADVERSE EFFECT ON ACTIVITY AND ATTENTION IN CHILDREN** Also the American Kraft Macaroni and Cheese contains artificial food dyes Yellow 5 and Yellow 6, which are very unnecessary and can be harmful. Kraft had developed a new product for the UK, but not for America!

 

WE DEMAND CHANGE IN OUR KRAFT MACARONI AND CHEESE!

 We are petitioning Kraft to remove all harmful artificial food dyes from Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, and urge them to properly advertise their use of GMOs in their Macaroni and Cheese products. Although it's optional to label GMOs in America, the denial of facts to their consumers is a form of false advertisement. Kraft admits to using GMOs, so why not make that evident on the boxes of their food products? "Under section 201(n), both the presence and the absence of information are relevant to whether labeling is misleading. That is, labeling may be misleading if it fails to disclose facts that are material in light of representations made about a product or facts that are material with respect to the consequences that may result from use of the product" (fda.gov).

Artificial food dyes:

-Require warning labels in countries outside of the United States

-Are banned in Norway and Austria

-Are made in labs with chemicals derived from petroleum, (used in diesel fuel, diesel gasoline, tar and asphalt).

-Yellow 5 and Yellow 6 are contaminated with carcinogens (an agent which is known for causing cancer)

-Cause an increase in hyperactivity in children

-Result in a negative effect on children’s ability to learn

-Are linked to health problems such as skin rashes and asthma

GMO similarly are:

-unhealthy, and have proven to develop an increase in health risks when GMOs had first been introduced in 1996 (according to resposibletechnology.org, the percent of Americans with 3 or more chronic illnesses jumped from 7% to 13% in 9 years, food allergies tremendously increased and disorders like autism came on the rise)

-increasing herbicide use (GM crops are made to be herbicide tolerant, which is a deadly wheat killer), and creates environmental harm
