Today I am petitioning to ban harmful chemicals and toxins that are found in popular feminine care products. Many women don't think twice before purchasing feminine care products and typically reach for popular, well advertised brands that they are familiar with. The most commonly used feminine care product brands are Kotex, Tampax, and Playtex, each which contain traces of Rayon, Dioxin, non-organic cotton, fragrance, Chlorine, and BPA, which consumers are often unaware of because tampon and pad manufacturers are not required to list ingredients on packaging. Not only are consumers putting harmful toxins in their bodies, many of them are unaware of such ingredients.
Female's do not have the choice to have a menstrual cycle, however users should have the option to know what is inside the feminine care products they are using, and these ingredients should be non-toxic, clean, and safe for all consumers. On average, females put over 10,000 feminine care products into their bodies throughout their lifetime, and no long term studies have been done to test the harmful effects of having such harmful toxins enter the female body over time (Lapidos 2016).
Creating a ban on the use of toxins and potentially harmful chemicals in feminine care products would allow for the deserved safety and peace of mind of female consumers across the world who have no other choice but to use such products every month.
