'Sasaeng Fans' have long been a problem with the Korean music industry. These fans are driven to horrifying extents - some older and some younger. They take stalking their favorite idols far beyond normal, for some it becomes their lives. Some of these fans are still in school, they skip it or may even drop school to do the stalking. There are even taxis that cater to these fans and wait outside of celebrity home or broadcasting stations. They do anything just to get the superstar's attention - may it be negative, some would even feel pride in causing their idol pain (thinking thoughts as - "He now has a bruise, that I made!") Korean idols have to revolve their lives around having to avoid, or even escape these fans.

Some examples of what these fans have done to get the 'attention' from their idols are: sending 'love letters' to their idols written in period blood or normal blood, hurting the idol (cases like punching the idol in the throat, or even slapping them across the face), making copies of keys to their homes, causing car accidents, threatening family members (in which they tell them to stay away from the idol), calling idols and asking where their at, and more recently installing security cameras (or CCTV) in the parking lot of an idol's home.

Recently, there had been an incident of where sasaeng fans had barged into an idol's family member's wedding, and disrupted the wedding. The idol had to apologize for the fans, even though he was not at wrong.

Many Korean idols feel uncomfortable and unsafe because of these fans, and even have thoughts of giving up their dreams just to protect their family and themselves. Idols are humans too, they deserve to have their own privacy and safety rights.

It's time for a change in how these fans are handled, Korean idols shouldn't be hiding behind a wall, scared, or have to face continuous harassment to themselves or within their (meant to be) private homes.
