Kool-aid selling harmful paper straws!

Kool-aid selling harmful paper straws!
The Issue
I, like many others, have been a long-time consumer of Kool-Aid. However, the recent switch from their original yellow straws to paper ones has left us frustrated and disappointed. These new paper straws go soggy quickly and lack the sharpness needed to pierce the juice packet - a fundamental part of enjoying our beloved drink. Moreover, it seems counterintuitive that these environmentally-friendly paper straws are wrapped in plastic covers.
The original yellow straws were not only functional but also an integral part of our Kool-Aid experience. The change has negatively impacted our enjoyment of this product and we believe it's time for Kool-Aid to listen to its consumers.
We understand the need for companies like Kool-Aid to make environmentally conscious decisions. However, there must be a balance between sustainability and user experience. We urge them not only as consumers but as advocates for better product design.
Did you know that Paper production emits air pollution, specifically 70 percent more pollution than the production of plastic [source: Thompson]. According to certain studies, manufacturing paper emits 80 percent more greenhouse gases [source: Lilienfield]. And consider that making paper uses trees that, instead, could be absorbing carbon dioxide. The paper bag-making process also results in 50 times more water pollutants than making plastic.
not only is it more harmful to the environment
A recent study has also highlighted another potential concern. Paper straws assessed by researchers at the University of Antwerp, Belgium, were found to contain more "forever chemicals" – per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances or PFAS – than plastic, Some studies show an association of PFAS exposure with kidney and testicular cancer. They have been shown to harm wildlife too. All the evidence points to paper and plant-based straws having significant PFAS in them.
Let's stand together and demand that Kool-Aid revert back to their original yellow straws or find an alternative solution that doesn't compromise on functionality or environmental responsibility.
