Know your Lease - Crows at Kings Reserve & Thebarton Oval - More details & time needed
The issue
Would you rent a house without knowing:
- How many trees there would be in the back yard?
- How many rooms there would be?
- If you can have pets?
- What times you may or may not be allowed to access the property at all?
Well that is what the City of West Torrens and the Adelaide Crows are asking us to do.
They are asking the community of West Torrents and specifically the 5031 postcodes to have their say on if the Adelaide Crows should be allowed to have 42-year lease on both Thebarton Oval and Kings Reserve.
Please Note: Due to the West Torrents Council living in the last century they only officially recognise hard copy petitions. If you support this one we will keep you informed as to when and how to sign the officially recognised petition.
With NO detail available and a consultation period of 4 weeks that equates to 0.02% of the proposed lease period.
We deserve genuine, transparent and detailed community engagement. The development could be the best thing to happen to this area but how would we know?
I'm asking that a lease agreement is not signed by the City of West Torrens Council until there has been:
- Significantly more details are released to the public. suggestions include (High level environmental impact and number of trees to be lost from Kings reserve, Traffic impact study, proposed training schedules for all teams using the facility and growth plans, Licensing plans for the venue)
- Letters sent to rate payers in the 5031 area, in multiple languages with a summary of these details.
- That the consultation time is between 8 - 12 weeks and starts only after the letters have been sent.
- That physical drop in locations and online channels are used to ensure the widest community feedback
- That the final report and all data be made public in full.
