Knott's Berry Farm has been overworking their horses for years. In 2011, one horse collapsed while providing a ride to park guests. The horse appeared exhausted, trembling for some time before the accident happened. He was being dragged around by his three other horses pulling the carriage in above 90 degree weather. While Knott's Berry Farm claimed to attend to the horse and give him medical attention, this is untrue. What ACTUALLY happened was the ride was closed for the day, and the horse was simply covered with a tarp. The horse was not removed until after park closing when a crane could come in to move it. The horse was never attended to and died after collapsing.

In 2003, the stagecoach experienced a crash that killed one of its horses as well.
In 2012, the back wheel of the stagecoach broke off, sending 3 guests to the hospital and injuring the horses.

Not only is this a huge risk for the horses, but for park guests as well. A ride controlled by horses can go completely awry for the guests in the stagecoach as well. These horses go out for four hours at a time in boiling weather, with no breaks or time alloted to recooperate, and hardly any shade at all on route. A 12 hour workday in the theme park means 12 horses being overworked. This could even mean 4 horses suffer through a double shift that day. The horses are noticeably exhausted and unhappy through each and every ride.

Please sign this petition to end this cruelty. Horses are not meant to be chained to a 500 pound stagecoach carrying 500 pounds of people. The stagecoach would be much safer for everyone if it moved itself rather than depending on horses.
