Dear Kings Plant Barn,

The other day I bought four 40L bags of your own brand "organic" compost. The bag clearly states "made from 100% organic material".

As someone who is a passionate environmentalist and organic gardener, imagine my disgust on discovering that this product is visibly riddled with many, many pieces of plastic! The photo supplied is the result of spending half an hour picking through just two of the bags...enough plastic to kill a sea turtle (I know this having worked in conservation). 

The second two bags were just as bad. And having spread this compost on my previously organic vege garden, I now find more pieces of plastic every time I work there. These are not microplastics either...they are easily seen with the naked eye and range up to 5cm. There were also shards of glazed pottery and some very sharp glass.

This is not only a clear and flagrant breach of the Fair Trading Act. It displays a disgusting disregard for our soils, waterways and wildlife, and for your customers who you are tricking, every day, into polluting the very environment they are trying so hard to enhance and protect.

Shame on you Kings Plant Barn! It's time to clean up your act.

While I of course expect my $25 back, it will be meaningless to me unless you either audit the environmental plastic out of your supply chains (the best possible outcome) or at the very least, change the false advertising on your currently fraudulent product.

The time for change is now - our environment is too precious.
