We are writing to express our strong and unequivocal support for Kim Montgomery for MEC Vice President.
Kim’s record of leadership directly aligns with the scope and responsibilities of this role. She has consistently demonstrated the ability to support executive leadership, manage complex administrative functions, and deliver measurable results for the membership.
Her experience with MEC engagement is unmatched. During her six year tenure as an LECP, Kim submitted more agenda items to the MEC than any of her peers. Most were adopted, reflecting both the strength of her proposals and her ability to communicate effectively within the MEC structure. This level of engagement speaks directly to her readiness to assist the MEC President and carry out assignments as directed by the MEC.
Kim’s administrative and organizational abilities are evident in her work on contractual bank hours. She authored a resolution to evaluate allocation across councils, which resulted in increased funding for some councils. In our own council 6, this added $98,000 annually to the local budget. This accomplishment reflects her attention to policy, procedure, and detail, all of which are essential in maintaining MEC Rules of Policy and Procedure.
Her leadership in committee administration is equally strong. As Council 6 President, Kim personally recruited, trained, and mentored members across every committee. This led to a 30 percent increase in participation and enabled full 24 hour coverage. Many of those members remain active today, demonstrating not only successful recruitment but sustainable development. This experience directly aligns with the responsibility of overseeing and administering MEC Committees.
Kim has also shown the ability to step into broader leadership roles when needed. Her hands on approach, visibility, and consistent presence, including actively flying trips, ensure she remains grounded in the day to day realities of the membership. She leads with credibility and is fully prepared to assume the duties of the MEC President when required.
In addition, Kim has fostered and maintained a respectful and productive relationship with management. This has resulted in more open communication and more favorable outcomes for individual members. Her strong communication skills and professionalism make her highly effective in both advocacy and administration.
