My name is Steven. I am 11 years old. This year was my first year as a middle schooler. I have to sit in a classroom all day. I have to ask permission to be allowed to go to the bathroom at school. At lunch we have assigned seats. Basically my entire day is micromanaged by adults. The first half of the school year there was no recess at all, now they allow us 10 minutes of recess. Those 10 minutes come out of our lunch break. So if we scarf down our food really fast, we get rewarded with 10 short minutes of outside time. However since we just ate no one feels like running around or playing because our bellies are full. If I question the teachers or administrators about this lack of sunshine, or physical activity I get in school suspension. Kids need movement and sunshine. Physical activity increases endorphins causing increased morale in finishing assignments, and a more positive outlook towards instruction. 

My hopes in this petition are 3 things:

1. I would like for Bell Creek Middle schoolers to be allowed 30 minutes of outdoor recess every school day.

2. I would like for Bell Creek Middle Schoolers to be allowed to sit where they want at lunch because we want to talk to our friends.

3. Ms. Pegram should get a raise because she is the best teacher, and the world needs more teachers like her.
