Kiama needs a fenced off-leash dog park
The issue
Kiama needs a fenced off-leash dog park.
There's nowhere in the entire Kiama LGA that allows dogs to roam off-leash, where they can be contained.
For owners who have dogs with poor recall and who aren't comfortable letting their dogs loose on an off-leash beach, this only leaves on-leash walking on streets, which doesn't give their dogs enough exercise each day - and can lead to bored dogs which bark excessively and demonstrate other anti-social or unwanted behaviour.
A fenced off-leash dog park is an important investment in community infrastructure that will benefit so many people, not to mention help with dog socialisation and exercise.
There are fenced off-leash dog parks in Shoalhaven Heads, Albion Park, Oak Flats and Flinders, but these are 20-35 minute drive from Kiama and are not practical from a daily exercising point of view.
Please sign this petition to request a fenced off-leash dog park. It will be delivered directly to Kiama Council's 'Companion Animals Management Advisory Committee', as well as all of the Councillors.
Thanks!
