We, the undersigned residents of Key Biscayne, urge the Village Manager, and Director of Parks & Recreation to open the Key Biscayne Community Center (KBCC), providing open access for all resident member families and children to KBCC facilities and Services.

The Village Manager and Director of Parks and Recreation presented their plan for the reopening of the KBCC during the General Council Meeting on May 18, 2021. They plan to continue to limit access to the KBCC through a phase-in approach which, to the dismay of many parents, seems to put the children of Key Biscayne last on the list. To date, the limited access to the KBCC has been based on COVID-19 restrictions. However, the State of Florida Governor’s Executive Order #21-102 expressly removed All Remaining Local Government Mandates and Restrictions based on the COVID-19 State of Emergency. Therefore, Key Biscayne families and, most importantly, the kids now have the right to enjoy free and open access to the KBCC!

During these hot summer months, our kids need to be able to enjoy and access:

Jungle Gym

Game Room

Park Splash Pad.
All of which are to remain closed during the hottest time of the day under the current policy.

Our kids have been through enough this past year, and they need a return to normalcy now more than ever. Kids need to be kids!! Please sign to get our kids access to the community center without further delay.
