Charlie Stilling started this petition to Representative Kevin McCarthy and

We all know that throughout the years, whether you are a Democrat or a Republican, the Electoral College has been proven that it needs a change. In the years, 1824, 1876, 1888, 2000, and in 2016, the national popular vote did not reflect the Electoral votes in the election. People have argued that we use the National Popular Vote Compact, but if we all followed Maine and Nebraska's lead and slightly change it, more states are likely to join because it has already been created and working in two states. Just think, if we could implement this to all of the states, we could have an election that is still fair for the Democrats and Republicans, and that many people will agree on.

If we can just get 100,000 signatures for this petition, the government has to take a look and respond to this petition. If they agree to the petition, we could have a new system for the electoral college that still respects the Founding Fathers original idea, which is to safeguard from the uneducated voters, but still please the people that are for the National Popular Vote Compact, by making everyone's vote equal. Some people say this will not work, but we have to give it a try. How would this happen? I'll show you how.

  • We split up each state into sections like Main and Nebraska did, minimum of 3 sections, and a maximum of 15.
  • To choose these sections, there have to be 3 Democrats, 3 Republicans, and 3 independent parties on the team to make the sections.
  • Once the sections are made, they assign 1-5 votes to each section, and instead of giving 2 votes to the national popular vote, we make each vote equal no matter what the national popular vote is. With the same team of 9, they will distribute the most votes to the most populated areas. (These votes will still be based on the electoral college.)
