Make Spider-Man part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe
It is without a doubt that Spider-Man is one of the most iconic characters in Marvel Comics. With the enormous success of Marvel Studios' franchise, some questions have been raised regarding the whereabouts of Spider-Man/Peter Parker during the events of The Avengers. The fact is, the movie rights to him and all of his related characters are owned by Sony Pictures, and Marvel Studios can not legally reference him directly.
When asked about the possibility of Spidey joining the MCU, 'The Amazing Spider-Man' director Marc Webb said:
"I would love that, as a fan, I think that would be great. I don’t know how that would happen, but I certainly would be supportive of it."
Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) said:
"I think [a crossover] would be amazing! I think that would be incredible. I think it could work in the realms of "movie land", but I don't know how it works in the realms of "business land". You'd have to ask the people at Marvel and Sony."
Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man/Peter Parker) said:
"I say 'never say never’, you know? I think everyone would love to see that. Obviously, big business and lawyers and rights issues are an obstacle. In my naivete I'm all 'let's put all that aside and just do it!'."
Kevin Feige (President of Marvel Studios and Executive Producer of 'The Amazing Spider-Man') also said:
"Never say never!"
Marc Webb confirmed that efforts were made to make a crossover cameo (in The Avengers I assume) but nothing came to fruition. Also, there was going to be an Oscorp easter egg in The Avengers skyline, which would have somewhat confirmed that Spidey exists in the same world.
By signing this petition, hopefully we can grab the attention of some of the people in charge. If we can get a response, that would be great.
