Kernel based Anti-Cheat is a method of preventing cheating in online games by running a driver in the kernel mode of the operating system. This allows the anti-cheat to access the lowest level of the system and detect any attempts to modify the game’s memory or code from the outside. 

To contrary popular belief, Kernel Anti-Cheats aren't THAT invasive when it comes to privacy. So far every online game with Kernal Anti-Cheat had no privacy breaches whatsoever. It's just fear mongering initialized by cheaters and their supporters, they are mad and upset by the possibility itself that they won't be able to ruin fun for everyone anymore.

I'm going to list other arguments as well, just a few to keep things compact:

 · it can counter more sophisticated cheats that operate in kernel space and are invisible to user-mode anti-cheat solutions 
· It can provide a more secure and fair gaming environment for players who do not cheat and want to enjoy the game as intended
· It can reduce the incentive and profitability of cheat developers and sellers, who may face legal actions or bans from the game publishers
