Freedom for Elizabeth Turpin

Freedom for Elizabeth Turpin
The Issue
Time is the most valuable component of life and how you use it ultimately determines your character, but that’s not necessarily how society views it. Society makes judgement on one's characters based on decisions in unusual situations or moments of weakness. Determining one’s character based on extremely pressured situation almost never has a direct correlation to their true humanely nature. A person ethical and moral compass can easily be impaired in these circumstances. People make mistakes that’s why we have a judicial system to determine the "right" consequences, but when do you know if a person has learned from these mistakes.
Elizabeth Turpin, 54 years old from Kentucky, made a mistake that resulted in almost 35 years of prison time and possibly life. During this time, she has completed over 31 classes and programs and received multiple degrees. After the first 25 years, she went up for parole and received a 10-year deferment (extension), but after being declined by Parole Board, she still remained hopeful and completed 18 improvement programs which included 8 moral recognition therapy (MRT), 6 mood/emotional management, and 4 educational classes. The MRT programs content consist of anger management, trauma for women, untangling relationships and seeking safety Also, she is now a senior mentor in AMEDS program that deal with mental health, emotional management and substance abuse.
Elizabeth is model inmate and has proven herself to be a great person by dedicating this time to helping young woman and also bettering herself. The Kentucky Correctional Institution for Woman is so fortunate to have a person inside making a real change to these woman lives and positively impacting the prisoner community. Turpin has remained hopeful for all this time and has spread wisdom and positivity for decades in prison. There is no doubt in my mind that she deserves to be released in December 2020. I need as much support as possible to show The Kentucky Parole Board that she has changed and can positively contribute to society. Let's bring Elizabeth Turpin Home! Thank you!
