Fund Kentucky Public Education, Not Charter Schools
The Issue
Public schools foster an environment that embraces, celebrates, and accommodates diversity. Subsequently, public education matters as it is the only entity dedicated to providing equity and access to that which nurtures every child's ability to think, contribute, and participate in our democracy. ~ NYSCOSS
As Kentucky's public education system continues to suffer from deep financial cuts to its school districts by both federal and state levels of government, we cannot allow Kentucky's state legislators to create an even deeper wound by supplementing Charter schools with state funding. Charter schools siphon vital funds from our public-school system while failing to provide proven evidence of greater success rates than our traditional public education system here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Therefore, we ask all Kentucky House and Senate Legislators to continue in their support of Kentucky's public education system. But, to cease the consideration regarding the funding of Charter schools and the unnecessary fiscal supplementing of association/organizations that by factual data do not hold the equality and Civil Rights of every Kentucky child to the highest regard.
