The latest move in the e-text smoke and mirrors is a classic in PR. If you want to limit bad reaction or avoid negative exposure, release info when it's least likely to have much impact. This week is reading week for the college. What convenient timing to distribute a e-survey to try and gauge feedback from students regarding the e-text program. Another classic trick to slant your survey to reinforce the answers you're seeking. Instead of asking students "Would you prefer to choose how and where to buy your book?" Simply ask, do you like the status quo? Would you prefer to apply your e-text fees to printed books? Funny. That last question should have read "Would you like to apply your e-text fees to buying printed books at our horribly overpriced bookstore?" Classic moves Algonquin College! Why is the college so stubborn to allow students to answer a simple yes or no question? Why don't students in all 180 programs get to choose if they want this imposition?
