So, I've link this petition to various AC Facebook pages. Seems to have ruffled a few feathers. It seems like AC refuses to accept that there are contrary opinions regarding their e-text experiment. Perhaps Dr. Mac thought that expanding AC to parts of the world where human rights are less recognized might change those parts of the world. Perhaps operating in those parts of the world will change AC. I would say that suppression of opposing viewpoints is not a value of a public and open institution that AC should be.
If Dr. Mac is so proud of the e-text project, why is there such a lack of information regarding KPI's that are/will be used to measure the success of this program? Where is the baseline data gathered by the college regarding before the roll out of the e-text experiment? Without that data, how can AC claim any type of success? Is there a control group? Poor science (or the lack of transparency) remind of late night informercials.
