Kenosha Permanent Pickleball Courts

Kenosha Permanent Pickleball Courts
The Issue
Kenosha is the 4th largest city in Wisconsin with a huge Pickleball community. Several smaller Wisconsin communities have dedicated pickleball courts for their players. We know Kenosha wants to support the health and active lifestyle by supporting the fastest growing sport in America!
The Kenosha pickleball community requests funding and dedicated pickleball courts at Pennoyer Park with work completed in 2022.
Currently, Kenosha has zero dedicated courts for its players. Dozens of us tote our temporary nets in our trunks and set up on unused tennis courts across Kenosha. Kenosha will be proud to join the ranks of both larger and smaller WI communities providing dedicated courts to their citizens.
The overwhelming success of temporary courts at a few Kenosha locations (Gangler Park, Pennoyer Park, Village Green) and the number of players who venture to parks in Gurnee, IL and Mount Pleasant and other communities with dedicated courts to play demonstrates that when pickleball courts are available, more and more people play – many of them taking up the sport for the first time.
Dedicated pickleball courts on the Lake at Pennoyer will significantly increase the public’s awareness of and access to this fast growing and popular sport. Currently, with six temporary nets set up there on the three existing tennis courts, we have 24 people playing pickleball when only a max of 6 can play tennis, if tennis was being played like pickleball is
Pickleball courts are an excellent use of community resources and should be prioritized, as the sport can be played by everyone – men, women, boys and girls, seniors, and those with disabilities.
Pickleball courts are an efficient use of park space that require little maintenance. Sixteen people can play on four pickleball courts in the same amount of space required for one tennis court, which is typically used by only two people.
PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION IF YOU SUPPORT THIS EFFORT. IT IS IMPORTANT TO SHOW HOW MANY PEOPLE WANT PICKLEBALL TO CONTINUE AND GROW IN KENOSHA.
