The Issue
Why hospital cleaners are not recognised as covid-19 frontliners? They should be. Without them, who is going to sanitise the hospitals? Doctors? Nurses? Medical officers? They are tied down saving lives, providing patient care, thus the mundane but crucial task falls onto the shoulders of hospital cleaners.
They should be included in the special allowance for covid-19 frontliners under Budget 2021. They keep the hospitals clean while the outbreak rages. They risk their lives too.
The Malaysian government must recognise hospital cleaners as frontliners and include them in the special allowance.
They are just as important as the doctors, nurses and medical officers. Without these cleaners, we might as well plunge ourselves into the covid-19 abyss.
