Petaling Jaya is a suburb area where many working individuals, students and families live in Malaysia. Public transportation such as the Kelana Jaya LRT (light rail transit) is vital to allow smooth transition to and fro destinations, which are developed over the past years. Buses and taxis are available to grant widespread transportation throughout the city. And we citizens are all grateful for that.

However, we noticed a lack of sitting amenities in the waiting line opposite of the Kelana Jaya LRT Station, a spot where people exercise a tiring routine of waiting for buses, taxis and other transport for 40 minutes to 1 hour everyday standing. People are sometimes desperate and begin to sit by a narrow stairway connecting to the waiting line. This has frustrated many while voices are not heard or captured collectively.

We took the initiative combining our amateur skills as designers and videographers to create six chairs (designed and handmade). We placed them in the waiting line spontaneously, hoping to capture the responses of the people on city living, transportation and design in the city while creating awareness of the situation.

Our next step is to propose to MBPJ (Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya), the authority body in charge of city development, infrastructure and such, to build sitting amenities for the sake of higher quality living where the modern suburb area should co-exist with adaptable amenities for the convenience of all.
