Kei’Mani’s TRUE JUSTICE

The Issue

Personal tragedies ignited this mission for justice. My loved ones and family members have suffered due to the negligence of responding officers and child protective services (CPS) employees, experiencing the frustrating reality of reports of abuse being overlooked. We urge for measures to ensure accountability, echoing the cries of countless families silenced by ineptitude and failure to protect their cherished ones. Failure to respond or follow up on abuse reports should not be overlooked but instead, met with severe consequences including termination and potential prosecution for aiding and abetting through their lack of actions.

According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, an estimated 679,000 children were victims of abuse and neglect in 2013, and an unthinkable 1,520 children died as a result. We can't ignore these horrifying statistics. Every single case of abuse needs to be taken seriously--these numbers are children's lives.

These failures by responding officers and CPS employees not only breach the trust placed within them as protectors, but also indirectly support the perpetration of these horrific acts. We insist on justice, and more importantly, on the prevention of the irreparable harm caused by abuse. We need a stronger system where every claim of abuse is followed up on – an environment where no call for help goes unanswered.

Please, add your voice to this plea for accountability. Let's ensure that our guardians are fulfilling their roles to protect, to serve, not just to respond but to follow-up, and lastly to be held answerable for any negligence in their duties. Please, sign this petition now.
