The Issue

Please help us keep our community pool open past the proposed September 1, 2025 closure. The pool in our neighborhood is not just a place for swimming; it's an amenity that our residents pays for year-round. During the hot summer months, this pool offers much more than just a way to cool off. It provides a gathering place for families, supports physical health through exercise, and offers the convenience of recreation just steps away from home.

Despite the undeniable benefits, there's an ongoing discussion about the potential closure of our community pool before October 15. Many residents believe that this decision is unnecessary and short-sighted, given that repairs and maintenance can be effectively conducted during the off-season months. By closing the pool prematurely, we are deprived of an essential community service at a time when it's most needed and valued. This closure appears to be more convenience than necessity.

The significance of keeping this pool open until October 15, 2025, cannot be overstated. It's imperative for our communal well-being, serving as an anchor for social interactions, facilitating healthy lifestyles, and providing a much-needed respite from the soaring temperatures. The Weather Channel shows average temperatures in September well into the 90’s.

Statistics show that physical activities such as swimming contribute to improved health outcomes, combating the rising tide of sedentary lifestyles that contribute to numerous health conditions. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), regular swimming can decrease the risk of chronic illnesses and improve overall health.

In Rocklin, where summers stretch late into the year, closing the pool early would negate these benefits and remove a cherished amenity from our lives. Keeping it open another month is not just a matter of convenience but one of community welfare.

Join us in urging our community leaders to reconsider and keep the Rocklin community pool open until October 15, 2025. Let's ensure that our families continue to have access to this vital resource during the months when we need it most. Sign this petition and make a difference in sustaining our community's health, happiness, and sense of togetherness.
