We showed up in force. There were probably between 70-90 people in attendance on our behalf at Elmhurst City Hall last night. A dozen people spoke in favor of us keeping the greenhouse. No one spoke against.
At the end, my alderman, Mr. Scott Levin, told the whole Council that there are "two separate issues" - 1) My adjudication hearing next week where we must be judged on whether we are in compliance with the mobile home and permanent building codes & 2) Whether or not the council wants to pass an ordinance to specifically address hoop houses in Elmhurst.
He stated that none of the aldermen could have anything to do with the adjudication process, or interfere in anyway. He basically told them to have no contact with me. That because I was up for a hearing that my elected representative government could not be involved. Hmm... How's that again?
We have an action item.
Please call Elmhurst City Hall (or email, or both) and tell them that this will not stand.
1) The permanent building code does not fit a temporary structure.
2) They wrote the citation to call me to court, they can cancel it. Nicole Virgil should not have to go to court for doing something that the code does not address.
3) Let the hoop house stay. It only needs 8 more weeks before it comes down. In the meantime, work on an ordinance to provide for hoop houses.

Lastly, if you are interested, you can watch the City Council meeting here. I have listed the times where relevant issues are discussed.
City Council Meeting Video
The meeting went long, so you'll want to forward through some parts, I would guess.
Our supporters spoke at the following times
13:39
19:18
39:00
47:37
51:05
53:04
Sometimes they run back to back to back... So wait until the next person comes up before your fast forward.
Scott Levin, my alderman, speaks at 2:50:41 & tells the Council not to intervene, get involved, etc... with the adjudication process.
He also speaks about the building code not allowing membrane structures - the PERMANENT building code (as his reasoning for us to take down a TEMPORARY structure.)
